The State Bank of Pakistan has announced that 1st July 2025 will be observed as a bank holiday in Pakistan. All banks, development finance institutions, and microfinance banks across the country will remain closed for public transactions on this date. This decision aligns with the State Bank of Pakistan’s annual practice of closing banks for the purpose of half-yearly accounts closing.

According to the official notification, bank employees will report to duty on 1st July 2025. They will engage in internal administrative and financial work, but no banking services will be available to customers at branches. This includes the suspension of over-the-counter transactions such as cash deposits, cheque clearances, and other teller services. However, customers will still have access to digital banking, online banking platforms, and ATMs during the bank holiday in Pakistan 2025.
It is important to note that this bank holiday is not a general public holiday. All other offices, businesses, and institutions will function as usual across the country. The bank holiday on 1st July 2025 is specifically for banking sector operations, focusing on internal account maintenance and financial reporting tasks mandated by the State Bank of Pakistan.
The announcement was made through an official circular issued by the State Bank of Pakistan. Similar bank holidays occur at the start of January, the first day of Ramadan, and at the beginning of July each year. The notification advises the public to plan their banking activities in advance to avoid any inconvenience due to closure of banking halls.
