Today marks the commencement of the annual matriculation examinations for grades nine and ten in Karachi. The morning session dedicated to the Computer Studies paper for the 9th grade Science Group, while the afternoon session will see 10th graders tackling their General Science paper.
The Matric Board’s Chairman has issued a stern warning against bringing mobile phones to the examination centers, emphasizing that any breach of this rule will lead to confiscation.
This year, the exams will witness the participation of over 368,000 students from both grades. To accommodate this large number, 504 examination centers have established across the city, with 265 dedicated to female students and 239 for male students.
The Science Group will see a turnout of 174,964 candidates, while the General Group will have 32,639 participants.
To maintain the integrity of the exams, Section 144 has imposed around the examination centers, and photocopy shops in the vicinity will remain closed. The board, in collaboration with the district administration, has implemented an efficient system for the distribution of examination papers to curb cheating.
In a move towards digitization, the board has issued admit cards online this year. Students who have filled out their forms online can print their admit cards. For those who missed the initial submission, the board has extended the deadline to May 10th, with a late fee of three and a half thousand rupees.
The board spokesperson emphasized that this is the final chance for students to submit their examination forms. The remaining exams will scheduled later in the academic year.
