BIEK Board Exams Rescheduled: New Dates Announced Due to Youm-e-Takbeer Holiday in Pakistan

Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has officially postponed the 1st year exam on 28th May 2025. This change comes in light of the Youm-e-Takbeer holiday 2025, which has been declared a public holiday across Pakistan. As a result, all Intermediate exams scheduled for that day in Karachi will now be held on Friday, 30th May 2025.

The Government of Pakistan has announced a nationwide public holiday on 28th May 2025 to commemorate Youm-e-Takbeer, the day marking Pakistan’s historic nuclear tests conducted in 1998. This annual observance is considered a significant national event, and due to this, educational boards including the BIEK have adjusted their schedules accordingly.

According to a spokesperson from the Intermediate Board Karachi, all arrangements for the exams have now been shifted to 30th May, ensuring that students still get adequate time and clarity for preparation. The 1st year exam on 28th May 2025, which was originally scheduled for Wednesday, will now take place on the following Friday without any changes in the exam venue or time.

Recent Exam Rescheduling by BIEK

It’s worth noting that this is not the first schedule change announced by BIEK in 2025. Earlier, the board had also delayed the commencement of Intermediate exams from 28th April to 5th May, primarily due to overlapping matric exams and internal administrative decisions. The board was also in the process of awarding grace marks to candidates from the 2024 first-year annual examinations, particularly for students from Science Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering, and Science General groups. Subjects like Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics were part of this revision.

Students affected by the postponement of 1st year exam on 28th May 2025 are advised to:

  • Stay updated through BIEK’s official website (www.biek.edu.pk) and its verified social media accounts for any further changes or instructions.
  • Use the extra time wisely to revise and reinforce key topics, especially since the exams have only been delayed by two days.
  • Ensure exam readiness for the new date, i.e. 30th May 2025, and avoid missing out on the revised schedule.

The Youm-e-Takbeer holiday 2025 is a significant national event and the public holiday has led to necessary changes in the Intermediate exam timetable. While the 1st year exam on 28th May 2025 has been moved to 30th May, students are encouraged to use this brief delay to their advantage and stay well-prepared.
