Board of Intermediate Education Karachi Results 2024 Controversy: Sindh Govt. Removed Chairman from Position

The chairman of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi has been removed from his position by the Sindh government. This decision came after controversy over the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi result 2024 tampering.

A notification issued on January 4, 2025, confirmed Qadri’s removal, citing an unauthorized foreign tour as a contributing factor. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, who also oversees the education portfolio, approved the dismissal. Sharf Ali Shah, the current Chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK), has been assigned additional responsibilities as BIEK Chairman.

The decision follows widespread dissatisfaction among students, especially in the pre-engineering and pre-medical groups, where many failed their intermediate exams. Several students, including those with high matriculation marks, received unexpectedly low scores. This sparked protests and calls for result scrutiny.

This controversy mirrors last year’s incident when many students failed intermediate exams. An investigation revealed result tampering in English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, holding eight officers responsible.

In response to the current situation, the Sindh Assembly witnessed heated debates, with opposition parties expressing concerns over the future of Karachi’s students. The assembly session turned tumultuous as lawmakers demanded immediate attention to the education crisis in the city.

Additionally, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has voiced concerns over the controversial results, with a delegation meeting the now-dismissed BIEK Chairman, Ameer Hussain Qadri, to discuss the issue. The delegation highlighted that approximately 67% of candidates failed in one or more papers, urging for a complete scrutiny of the results.

The Sindh governor has also taken notice of the students’ dissatisfaction, indicating the gravity of the situation and the need for prompt resolution to restore confidence in the examination system.

As the education authorities work to address these challenges, students and parents await corrective measures to ensure transparency and fairness in the examination process.
