Honhaar Scholarship Program Launch Today: Aiming to Benefit 30,000 Students

The Honhaar Scholarship Program, set to inaugurated today by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, marks a historic milestone in Punjab’s education sector. Described as the “largest” scholarship initiative in the province’s history, the program will provide financial aid to over 30,000 students in various fields, offering significant support for those pursuing higher education.

Launch Ceremony at Punjab University

The Honhaar Scholarship Program will officially launched at Punjab University today, with key officials and educational leaders in attendance. This initiative will cover scholarships for students enrolled in 65 government and private universities, 12 medical and dental colleges, and 359 colleges across Punjab. With over 68 disciplines covered, the program designed to ensure that students from diverse academic backgrounds can access financial support to continue their education.

Eligibility Criteria for Honhaar Scholarship

The scholarship program targets deserving students from across Punjab. To be eligible for the Honhaar Scholarship 2024, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Domicile: Applicants must have a domicile from any district within Punjab.
  • Age Limit: Candidates should be under 22 years of age.
  • Family Income: The monthly income of the applicant’s family should be below Rs. 300,000.
  • Enrollment: Students must enrolled in an educational institution in specified disciplines at designated universities or colleges for the fall session of 2024.

Provisional Merit Lists and Verification Process

The program committee has released the provisional merit lists for the Honhaar Scholarship Programme 2024, which are subject to verification. The lists include 20,566 applicants from public sector universities and 4,820 students from private sector institutions. Additionally, 1,367 applicants from medical and dental colleges and 3,247 students from HED colleges have selected. The verification process will involve document checks, interviews, and an assessment of family income to confirm eligibility.

Scholarship Details and Financial Support

Selected candidates under the Honhaar Scholarship Program will receive Rs. 130,000 per year to cover their educational expenses. The scholarship will be renewable for up to eight years, ensuring long-term support for students’ academic pursuits. This initiative aims to benefit over 4 million students over the next four years, with a total of 20 million scholarships projected to awarded.
