Amidst a severe smog crisis gripping Punjab, the provincial government remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring educational continuity. Despite a smart lockdown in seven heavily affected districts, the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education in Lahore and Gujranwala are unwavering in their determination to proceed with the scheduled intermediate second annual examinations.
This decision unfolds against a backdrop of critical health measures implemented to address the smog-induced public health concerns. From November 9 to November 12, a strategic lockdown has enforced in Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Narowal districts, effectively suspending all activities except for essential services.
The Punjab Higher Education Department, in a Wednesday notification, affirmed that the intermediate second annual examinations will proceed as originally scheduled. The exams, slated for November 10 and 11, 2023, will cover various subjects, including Biology, Mathematics, Adeeb-Alam Fazil (Urdu, Arabic, Persian, Punjabi, and Pashto), Health and Physical Education, Nursing, Economics, Principles of Commerce, Military Science, and diverse languages.
The Department of Higher Education Punjab’s notification underscores that the “HSSC second annual exams will conducted as per the original schedule under the jurisdiction of Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Lahore and Gujranwala.”
In the face of environmental challenges, the educational authorities are forging ahead, prioritizing the maintenance of academic schedules and fostering a sense of normalcy amid extraordinary circumstances.
