The Sindh Health Department is gearing up for a retake of the MDCAT test on December 1, 2024, which will bring some notable changes to the exam format. Candidates this year will have four answer options for each MCQ, reduced from the previous five, aiming to streamline the test experience.
The test administration has been handed over to Sukkur IBA (Institute of Business Administration), which proposed the date and has started preparing for the big day. PMDC’s Exam Controller, Imdad Khushk, along with Health Department official Zohaib Hassan Sheikh, are serving as focal points for the test setup, ensuring that all runs smoothly.
The decision to hold the exam in Sindh comes after extensive discussions within the Sindh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The meeting highlighted past issues, especially the infamous paper leaks that have clouded the MDCAT’s credibility since its initiation in 2017-18 across Karachi, Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Sukkur, and Larkana. These incidents led to a High Court petition, prompting calls for a fair and transparent testing process.
In light of these concerns, the Chief Minister stressed that protecting the test’s integrity is essential, as paper leaks not only bring dishonor but also jeopardize students’ futures. With this in mind, Sukkur IBA will take full charge, as IBA Karachi opted out. To support this shift, the Sindh Cabinet has allocated a budget of 232.1 million rupees, setting the stage for a reliable and transparent testing environment.
