Islamabad Schools Closed on Monday, September 9, 2024

In the aftermath of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) large political rally on Sunday, several private schools in Islamabad remained closed on Monday as a precaution. Despite the closures, schools under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) remained operational as normal.

The rally at Saranjani caused significant disruptions across the capital, with roadblocks and traffic jams on key routes such as Faizabad, Murree Road, Chungi No 26, and a section of Margalla Road. Containers were placed on major roads, creating difficulties for commuters and leading to widespread delays.

As a result, many private schools, including Headstart, West Minister, Super Nova, Lahore Grammar School, City School, and Beacon House, announced closures due to concerns over safety and traffic. These schools notified parents of the decision on Sunday night, urging them to keep students home.

By late Sunday night, authorities confirmed that the blocked roads had been cleared, and Metro services between the twin cities were fully restored, bringing the city’s transport system back to normal.
