KU’S Mehmood Hassan Library Book Exhibition Highlights Iqbal’s Thought

The book fair in Karachi University at the Mehmood Hassan Library set up its month-long theme, “Iqbal and the Awakening of Thought.” The exhibition runs from 5 to 30 November. It marks Iqbal’s birth anniversary and brings rare books into one space.

The Mehmood Hassan Library arranged the display under its “Book of the Month” program. The team selected titles from Urdu, Persian, and English works on Iqbal. The focus stays on selfhood, unity, discipline, and his call for an aware Muslim community. Many books come from collections that readers rarely access.

The Mehmood Hassan Library Book Exhibition also features works linked to revival movements and Iqbal’s philosophical ideas. You can see several titles that are no longer available in the market. The staff said the goal is simple. They want students and researchers to explore these texts without barriers.

The library holds rare manuscripts and personal collections from many scholars. This exhibition uses that archive to build interest in Iqbal’s work. The team wants readers to reconnect with research material that sits inside the library but stays out of sight.

This book fair at Karachi University creates a direct link between readers and sources that shaped major discussions on identity, knowledge, and direction.
