The Karachi University water pipeline crisis continues to disrupt academic life as major portions of the campus remain submerged after last week’s pipeline burst. Despite ongoing repair work by KWSC (Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation), students and faculty are facing a full suspension of classes, with no clear timeline for water supply restoration.
The 84-inch pipeline rupture near the university gate caused massive flooding on campus, damaging research labs, faculty housing, and lecture halls. Emergency teams have been deployed, but dewatering operations are still underway, leaving the university partially inaccessible.

Thousands of students have been left stranded without drinking water, sanitation, or classroom access. According to the Karachi University Teachers’ Society (KUTS), several departments have also reported damage to expensive equipment and academic records.
Officials from KWSC confirmed that repair work is ongoing, but full water pressure restoration may take a few more days. The Sindh government has yet to announce a relief plan or compensation for affected staff and students.
