Major Update: Karachi Inter Students to Get 15-20% Extra Marks

The Sindh Assembly’s parliamentary committee has approved grace marks for first-year intermediate students in Karachi. The decision comes after concerns were raised regarding the declining results of students in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Grace Marks Allocation

As per the decision, students will receive:

  • 15% grace marks in Physics
  • 15% grace marks in Mathematics
  • 20% grace marks in Chemistry

Committee’s Findings on Karachi Students’ Results

The approval was based on the recommendations of a fact-finding committee led by Dr. Sarosh Lodhi, former Vice Chancellor of NED University. Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah made the announcement during a press conference at the Sindh Assembly. He was accompanied by members from MQM, Jamaat-e-Islami, and PTI.

The committee highlighted serious issues in the assessment and examination system of Karachi’s educational boards. It was also noted that students in Karachi have faced unfair treatment for the past eight years, leading to a continuous decline in results compared to other boards in Sindh.

Final Approval & Notification

The final approval will be granted by the Chief Minister of Sindh, after which the Universities and Boards Department will issue an official notification.

Call for Accountability & Further Investigation

Alongside awarding grace marks, the committee has recommended action against those responsible for discrepancies in Karachi students’ results. A mandate has been requested from the Sindh Assembly to further investigate and identify the individuals accountable for the irregularities.

Review of Other Educational Boards

The Sindh government has also decided to evaluate results from all educational boards across the province. This decision comes after concerns were raised that marks were unfairly adjusted, favoring students from other boards while reducing marks for Karachi students.

This development is expected to provide relief to thousands of 1st year students in Karachi while ensuring fair assessment practices across all educational boards in Sindh.
