IBA Sukkur has proposed to retake the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2024 in Sindh on December 1, pending approval from the Sindh Health Department. This recommendation aligns with the recent Sindh High Court (SHC) order to conduct a new test following concerns over the previous exam’s integrity.
Preparations are underway as IBA Sukkur works with health authorities to arrange the retake. Earlier, the SHC ruled the previous MDCAT by Dow University invalid due to alleged mismanagement, paper leaks, and other issues. Complaints from students and parents led to petitions that the SHC upheld, requiring a fresh admission test.
In light of these developments, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) appointed Imdad Khushak, the Controller of Examinations, as the primary coordinator for MDCAT 2024. This ensures direct oversight for the upcoming test to prevent any recurrence of issues.
Moreover, the Sindh cabinet has greenlit a budget of Rs232.1 million to support the smooth re-conduct of the test. The funds are aimed at covering the necessary logistics and ensuring a transparent examination process for prospective medical and dental students.
