The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has officially announced that the minimum annual fee for private medical colleges across the country will now be set at Rs18 lakh starting from the 2025 academic session.
According to the latest notification issued by the PMDC, private medical colleges will be allowed to charge up to 5% additional fees for the upcoming session. Furthermore, institutions that can provide valid documentation of increased operational costs will be permitted to raise the fee up to Rs2.5 million.
Future Fee Adjustments Based on CPI
Starting from 2026 onwards, private medical institutions will have the option to adjust their fee structures in line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI). This measure is aimed at maintaining transparency and aligning tuition fee hikes with inflation trends in Pakistan.
Key Highlights:
- Minimum fee fixed at Rs18 lakh per year.
- 5% increase allowed from the 2025 session.
- Fee can be increased up to Rs2.5 million with proof of higher expenses.
- CPI-based fee increase allowed from 2026.
This move by the PMDC is seen as part of broader reforms to regulate private medical education in Pakistan and ensure that fee increases are justified and controlled.
