In a recent development, the Punjab Education Board has officially announced that the matric exams 2024 across the province will proceed as initially scheduled. This decision comes in response to a request from the All Pakistan Private Schools Association (APPSA) urging authorities to postpone the exams by at least a month.
The request, conveyed in a letter addressed to the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and the Secretary of Higher Education, cited concerns over the adverse effects of smog and the extended winter holidays. Mr. Shabir Ahmed Hashmi, the Central President of the All Pakistan Private Schools Association, emphasized the need for a delay to mitigate these challenges.
Despite these pleas, the Punjab Education Board has firmly asserted that there will be no alterations to the examination schedule, ensuring that students can prepare for their matriculation exams without any unexpected delays. It is noteworthy that the matric exams are set to commence from March 1st, with the provisional date sheet already issued by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Lahore.
Officials caution that any delay in the matriculation exams may potentially impact the schedule of higher-level exams. The decision to proceed as planned underscores the board’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the academic calendar and providing students with a fair and predictable examination process.
