Punjab, facing an intense cold wave, has adjusted school timings to ensure the safety and well-being of students. In response to the plummeting temperatures, Punjab Chief Minister Naqvi has decided to modify school hours for both private and government institutions. Thick fog, enveloping various parts of Punjab, prompted this timely decision.
Beginning January 10, 2024, classes in Punjab will commence at 9:30 am, providing a later start to the day during the ongoing winter wave. Chief Minister Naqvi emphasized the need for students to bundle up with jackets and warm clothes, acknowledging the tightening grip of winter.
Simultaneously, the interim government in Sindh has also revised school hours for both government and private educational institutions throughout January 2024. The School Education and Literacy Department issued a notification stating that schools under its jurisdiction would start classes from 9:00 am. Notably, schools in Karachi will maintain an earlier start time of 8:30 am.
In addition to the revised school hours, winter vacations in Jammu Kashmir have been extended until January 15, providing students and staff with an extended break during the colder months. As regions grapple with the winter chill, these adjustments aim to ensure the well-being of students and educators alike.
