Trouble Looms for Inter Supplementary Exams in Karachi

In a surprising turn of events, students in Karachi are grappling with prolonged delays in the release of matriculation and inter exam results, casting a shadow of uncertainty over their academic futures.

Matric Results Awaited:

The results for class 9 science and general groups in Karachi are still under wraps, causing anxiety among approximately 100,000 students who completed their exams seven months ago. The matriculation board has the results ready, but a shortage of invigilators to sign them has brought the process to a standstill. The removal of invigilator exams by the Sindh government and the absence of a appointed officer as the moderator further complicate matters.

Similarly, the fate of class 11 results remains undecided, with the Intermediate Board facing organizational challenges. The Commissioner Karachi has implemented temporary changes, appointing officials to oversee key roles. However, delays persist in evaluating examination copies, especially for subjects like English, leaving first-year students in distress.

The scheduled Inter supplementary exams, initially slated for January 15, 2024, are now under threat of disruption due to the upcoming general elections on February 8. This delay could potentially lead to rescheduling, further affecting students eagerly awaiting their first-year results.

The entire episode has left around 2 lakh students in classes 9 and 11 in the dark about their academic performance. With no clarity on which papers they have passed and uncertainty surrounding preparations for class 10, students are experiencing heightened stress and anxiety.

Despite being informed about the issues, the Chairman of the Secondary Education Board Karachi, Professor Sharaf Ali Shah, cites ongoing queries and unresolved matters as reasons for the delayed release of results. The inexperience within the Sindh caretaker government has been identified as a contributing factor to the chaos in the education sector.

As students and parents anxiously await resolution, the educational community hopes for swift action to address the administrative shortcomings and provide much-needed relief to the students caught in the crossfire of this educational turmoil.
