Extended Winter Break: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab Schools Closed Until January 7 and 10, 2024
In a recent development, the winter holidays for students in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have been further extended. The education department has officially announced the closure of all public and private schools until Sunday, January 7, 2024. This decision affects various regions, including Mardan, Peshawar, Nowshera, Dera Ismail Khan, and nearby areas.
Initially slated to reopen on Monday, January 1, schools in the mentioned areas will now resume classes on Monday, January 8, 2024. The extension is attributed to teacher election training and the ongoing cold weather conditions in the region.
Contrary to the previous announcement, which indicated a normal reopening on January 1, the revised schedule now reflects the prolonged closure of educational institutions in the plains of the province, including Peshawar.
In a related development, the Punjab government has also opted to extend winter vacations in schools. During a provincial cabinet meeting chaired by the caretaker chief minister, Mohsin Naqvi, it was decided that schools in Punjab will observe an additional winter vacation from January 1 to January 9, 2024.
The Education Department has issued instructions for all schools in the province to strictly follow the designated procedures related to the extended winter vacation. Classes are scheduled to resume on January 10, 2024.
These decisions aim to accommodate teacher election training and ensure the safety and well-being of students in light of the prevailing cold weather conditions. Stay tuned for any further updates on the reopening of schools in these regions.
