The Punjab government is set to announce the much-anticipated winter vacation for schools across the province, following its annual tradition. These holidays aim to protect students from the chilly winter weather. Typically, the Schools Education Department finalizes the winter break schedule in December, giving families a chance to plan their time.
As per initial reports, winter vacation in Punjab is likely to start from December 21, 2024 (Saturday), and continue till January 1, 2025 (Wednesday). These dates apply to all public and private schools. However, the final decision will be made after considering the prevailing weather conditions and ongoing issues like smog, which has already disrupted educational activities this year.
Last year, schools were closed for winter break from December 18 to December 31, but the holidays were later extended till January 9, 2024, due to worsening weather. This year, authorities are keeping a close eye on both the smog situation and the dropping temperatures to ensure students’ safety.
