Dhurandhar Banned in UAE for Showing Anti-Pakistan Content

Ranveer Singh’s new film Dhurandhar faces a major setback in the Gulf. Regional authorities blocked its release because they saw the film as anti-Pakistan. The Dhurandhar Ban affects all GCC countries, even though the makers tried to get approval. The film still performs strongly in India and other markets.

Dhurandhar Ban: Ranveer Singh’s Film Blocked Across Gulf Countries

The film Dhurandhar launched in India on 5 December 2025. It opened well and crossed ₹200 crore at the box office. But the Dhurandhar Ban in the Gulf changed its global path.

GCC countries refused to screen the film. Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE all rejected it. They reviewed the film and flagged its anti-Pakistan angle. This decision was not new in the region. Earlier films with similar themes faced the same outcome. Still, the makers tried again and requested approval for a release.

Censors did not approve it. Each board cited the controversial subject as the reason. So the Dhurandhar Ban became final across the Gulf. The region has a large Pakistani community, and political themes often face strict checks.

Even with the ban, Dhurandhar kept strong momentum in India. It also performed well in overseas markets outside the Gulf. Trade trackers reported around ₹44 crore from those regions in the first days. Some estimates placed the global total above ₹300 crore if early trends continued.

The cast includes Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. The film uses a spy-action format and mixes fictional conflict with real-world themes, which triggered the Dhurandhar Ban debate both online and in media.
