Famous C.I.D Actor Passed Away at 57: Co-Star Confirmed

In a poignant turn of events, the entertainment industry mourns the loss of Dinesh Phadnis, renowned for his portrayal of the affable Fredericks in the popular Sony TV series CID. The actor bid farewell to the world on Tuesday, succumbing to complications arising from a liver issue, as confirmed by his co-star, Dayanand Shetty.

The actor had been undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Tunga Hospital, where he fought a valiant battle against the debilitating effects of liver damage.

Contrary to initial speculations of a heart attack, Shetty clarified that Dinesh Phadnis had been grappling with liver issues. “For the last two days, he has been very critical. Today morning (Sunday) also I’ve learned that there’s no major improvement. We’re hoping he gets better soon,” remarked Shetty.

Elaborating on the circumstances leading to Phadnis’s health decline, Shetty highlighted, “Dinesh was getting treated for some other ailment but the medication affected his liver adversely. That’s why it is always recommended to take medicines very carefully.”

Known for his endearing portrayal of Fredericks, the funny and innocent CID officer, Phadnis shared insights into his journey in a past interview. Recounting the serendipitous turn of events, he said, “I remember I was struggling for roles, and wherever I went to seek work, I met B P Singh (producer of CID). Finally, he asked me if I wanted to join CID, and that’s how my journey began.”

Phadnis, who also ventured into the supernatural with ‘Aahat,’ leaves behind a legacy of laughter and memorable performances. As fans and the industry come to terms with this loss, the indelible mark he left on the world of entertainment ensures that Fredericks will forever remain etched in our hearts.
