Prominent Singer Meesha Shafi had filed a complaint to the governor against the “Teefa In Trouble” actor, under the Protection Against Harassment of Women at Workplace Act 2010.

As per news reports, Punjab Governor Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana rejected Meesha Shafi’s appeal against Ali Zafar on technical reasons. The plea was rejected on July 11 because of Meesha not being under any agreement to work with Ali, subsequently, the act did not apply in this case

Ahmed Pansota, Meesha’s lawyer, confirmed that the appeal has been dismissed on technical basis, which means when ombudsman cited the case to be not under the said act. Our plan is to appeal again on a competent forum and hopefully justice will prevail.”

“Meesha was not compelled in any way to work with Ali”, the legal team of the actor/singer said in a statement. “The appeal was dismissed some time ago, around the same time Ali’s debut Pakistani film Teefa in Trouble was releasing. Therefore, we didn’t want the attention from the movie to be diverted,” a member of the team, Ambreen Qureshi shared.

“I have always maintained that I will respect and honour whatever decision the justice system takes and that I believe justice shall be served in the best possible manner,” Ali said on the matter.

In a conversation with international media outlet, Ali Zafar said that he was more hurt because he has always supported women’s empowerment. “People will find out in time. With time everything comes out and the truth unveils itself. I, since day one, said that I will not fight this over social media as I will take the professional course and I have sought professional remedies and the due course of law shall give justice in time,” he had added.
