Film director and actor Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on December 14, 2025. Police are investigating an apparent homicide. Authorities have not confirmed a suspect.

Legendary actor and director Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife Michele Singer Reiner, 68, were discovered dead in their Brentwood home on Sunday afternoon. Police responded to a medical call around 3:30 p.m. The Los Angeles Fire Department first arrived and then called the LAPD.
Preliminary reports indicate the couple died from stab wounds. The case is now with the LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division.
LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton confirmed that no arrests have been made. He emphasized the investigation is in the early stages. Media outlets have reported that the couple’s son, Nick Reiner, 32, is a person of interest. Police have not confirmed charges.
Rob Reiner rose to fame as “Meathead” in All in the Family and directed hits including The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally…, A Few Good Men, and Stand by Me. He was also a political activist.
Michele Singer Reiner was a professional photographer and activist. She co-founded the I Am Your Child Foundation with Rob in 1989, now known as Parents Action for Children.
A family spokesperson expressed “profound sorrow” and requested privacy. Tributes have poured in from Hollywood and political leaders, including former President Barack Obama, California Governor Gavin Newsom, and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. Fans and peers mourn Rob Reiner dead and his wife.
