Imran Abbas Urges Film Industry to Respect Muharram, Criticizes Movie Release

Pakistani actor Imran Abbas has called on the film industry to halt movie releases during the first ten days of Muharram. His statement came after the release of Sardaar Ji 3 on Muharram 1, which he said goes against Muslim values. Imran Abbas stated that Muharram holds religious significance for all Muslims, and releasing films during this period undermines its sanctity.

He highlighted that this appeal is not based on sectarian views but is about respecting Islamic traditions. Imran Abbas recalled that in the past, PTV and other platforms avoided music and entertainment content during Muharram. He urged producers and distributors to follow similar practices and avoid scheduling film releases during Muharram.

The actor also stressed that other important Islamic months like Rabi al-Awwal and Ramadan deserve similar respect from media and entertainment platforms. His appeal was supported by senior actress Sakina Samo and actor Shaan Beig, who agreed that Muharram should be observed with dignity.
