Junaid Akram Denies Allegations of Sexual Harassment Made By Multiple Women
While #MeToo movement is gaining more momentum around the globe, women are contently coming forward to accuse the comedian, Junaid Akram, of sexual harassment. For the sake of the victims’ protection, their names will not be revealed.
The first accuser came to know of the celebrity in an article that appeared in a local publication on August 24, 2014. According to the supposed victim, the incident occurred a few days later. She said, “I followed him on social media and would occasionally comment on his posts. Once, he messaged me saying that I shouldn’t comment on his posts which may carry double meaning as he has some ‘creeps’ added as well. I then avoided commenting.”
She mentioned that Akram reportedly asked for her WhatsApp number and asked her to meet up with him.
Another girl came out to speak against Akram. However, since she was afraid of speaking in public, she created a fake profile to report her harassment incident. She wrote:
According to her, everything between them was consensual, but he didn’t tell her that he was married.
Another girl came forward to claim that Akram didn’t harass her but lied about his marital status. After going on a few dates, he messaged her saying:
The fourth accuser shared that Junaid Akram once came to her university to speak on mental health where he shared his story about child abuse. She said:
Later, her university was to hold another event and invite him so she messaged him again.
She then told her sister about everything who had come in her room when she was having the call with Akram. After she started crying, her sister asked her to call Akram again. Her sister then began to threaten to expose him on social media. However, Akram reportedly told her that he can use the girl’s nude videos that he recorded. After the incident, she deleted all her conversations with Akram and has blocked him everywhere on social media.
However, Akram has denied all sexual harassment claims against him. He said, “My marital status is public information. I have spoken about it in my Facebook videos and it’s also been mentioned in my YouTube video dated to March 2017.”
He added that he has not harassed anyone and all the claims are falsified. He continued, “I am currently consulting my legal team to take action within the parameters of the law, against all those who have made or furthered these allegations.”
