Nak Da Koka Singer Malkoo Name Removed from Travel Ban List

In a recent development, Pakistani singer Mohammad Ashraf, widely known as Malkoo, has officially removed from the travel restriction list imposed by the Ministry of Interior. This decision comes following a controversial incident where Malkoo and fellow artist Sarah Atif prevented from boarding a flight to London on June 17 due to their names being on the Professional National Identity List (PNIL).

The PNIL, managed by the Ministry of Interior, restricts individuals listed from traveling abroad without prior clearance. Malkoo’s removal from this list confirmed by an official, who cited directives from higher authorities as the reason for the decision.

The controversy surrounding Malkoo escalated after a video clip of his latest rendition of the popular song ‘Nikka Da Koka’, dubbed ‘Fauji Koka’, went viral on social media platforms. The song’s lyrics, which praised the dedication of the Pakistan Army to safeguard the nation under any circumstance, sparked debate and attention across the country.

Prior to his removal from the travel ban list, Malkoo had taken legal action by filing a petition in the Lahore High Court against the travel restrictions imposed by the authorities. Justice Shams Mirza of the Lahore High Court had issued a notice to the federal government to respond to Malkoo’s plea by July 15.

However, following the release of ‘Fauji Koka’, Malkoo opted to withdraw his petition from the court, a request which subsequently approved by the Lahore High Court.

The controversy and subsequent developments have highlighted issues of artistic expression and government oversight in Pakistan, prompting discussions both within the entertainment industry and among the general public regarding freedom of speech and the role of authorities in regulating artistic content.

Malkoo, known for his distinctive style and popular songs, continues to be a prominent figure in Pakistan’s music scene. His removal from the PNIL signifies a resolution to the recent travel restrictions, allowing him to pursue future engagements and artistic endeavors without hindrance.
