Pakistan Idol to return after decade-long hiatus in 2025. The second season, officially titled Pakistan Idol Season 2, is being revived by MHL Global in partnership with Fremantle. The reality show contest will come with a new format which will have nationwide coverage through multiple networks.
Pakistan Idol Season 2 Judges
The new judging panel includes Fawad Khan, Zeb Bangash, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, and Bilal Maqsood. This lineup replaces the original judges from Season 1—Bushra Ansari, Hadiqa Kiani, and Ali Azmat—aiming to bring a broader musical range.
Pakistan Idol Season 2 will be broadcast simultaneously on five major television networks across Pakistan. This broadcast strategy is designed to cover all regions and language groups.
Pakistan Idol Season 2 Auditions
Online auditions have already launched via the Begin app. In-person auditions are scheduled across major cities and remote areas, aiming for diverse representation. Contestants will receive mentorship and compete through public voting.
The initial Pakistan Idol was broadcast in 2013 from December to April, and on Geo Entertainment, and Zamad Baig was declared the winner after votes exceeding one million were cast in the final. The show was stalled initially as Geo TV acquired the rights of the show in 2007 owing both to security reasons and production.
The ‘move’ for a 2025 re-launch will be the same as the 14-week format. There will be online and face-to-face auditioning, and finalists have to qualify for rounds of weekly performances until the grand finale. Voting by the audience will continue to be the major focus in eliminating and selecting of finalists.
Broadcast schedule and premiere date for Pakistan Idol Season 2 are expected to be announced soon. The show aims to engage both television and digital audiences across Pakistan through a hybrid strategy.
