Pakistani celebrities lost their cool after LHC acquitted suspect in the Khadija Siddiqui assault case. The hashtag #JusticeForKhadija is making rounds on social media accounts condemning the court’s decision.
The hashtag #JusticeForKhadija is going viral after the suspect in the Khadija Siddiqui case has been acquitted by the LHC on Monday.
The young law student Khadija, who was stabbed 23 times by the suspect, miraculously survived the incident last year. Khadija Siddiqui was assaulted on the Davis Road of Lahore by Shah Husain, a fellow law student. While the assaulter tried to flee after stabbing Khadija, his face was captured on a video made by a witness.
After DNA evidence, videographic proof and witness testimonies, the suspect was given a sentence of 7 years in Jail, last year. However; the suspect filed an appeal against the sentence. After which the sentence was reduced to 5 years from the initial sentence of 7 years.
But things took a turn for the worst after an appeal to acquit the suspect went in favor of the assaulter. Shah Husain was acquitted in a hearing at the Lahore Highcourt by a single-member bench on Monday.
Celebrities broke their silence on the matter and have taken to social media to demand #JusticeForKhadija.
Celebrities such as Mahira Khan, Osman Khalid Butt, Mawra Hocane and Jeremy McLellan condemned the actions of the court on their accounts.
Earlier today, Khadija Siddiqui had announced to appeal against the LHC verdict in Supreme Court. She questioned that will the attacker roam free on the streets, while she still bears the scars of the attack on her body.
