Samina Sindhu Shot Dead in Larkana For Not Dancing While Singing

Larkana: A local Sindhi singer, Samina Sindhu, was killed in firing at a function in Larkana, Sindh Province, by an influential person, who was shot dead. The reports indicate that during the incident held at Goth Kanga near Larkana, some spectators suddenly fired shots, resulting in Singer Samina Sindhu’s death. Her husband has revealed that the singer was 6 months pregnant when she was killed mercilessly.

Details of Incident

According to the local sources, singer Samina Sindhu was singing a Sindhi song at a local signing ceremony and a spectator who was present requested the singer to dance while singing. The person was holding a pistol in his hands and asked the singer to dance to which she denied. Infuriated and intoxicated person fired shots on the singer from which she had died on the spot.


According to DIG, Larkana, Abdullah Sheikh, the person involved in the killing of Samina Sindhu has been arrested and has been identified as Tariq Jatoi. The case has been registered in the Kanga police station under Section 302, while the weapon used in the murder apprehended from the arrested accused has also been ceased. However, reports say that the police initially tried to hide the incident and said that this was an accident that occurred due to aerial shooting. According to the DIG Larkana, videos made during the ceremony will also be part of the investigation. Relatives of the deceased Samina Sindhu are poor, and there are chances that the case will be canceled by pressuring them.

On the other hand, the singer’s husband says that Samina Sindhu was pregnant and that the trial should be of double murder, of the singer and her unborn child as well. Sindh’s Home Minister Sohail Anwar Sial has taken notice of the incident and asked for the report while PPP chairman Asif Ali Zardari has also looked into the matter asking that Justice be given to the deceased and her family.
