Famous Pakistani rapper Talha Anjum has issued a public apology over the controversy surrounding the Indian flag at his Nepal concert.
A few days ago, a short video went viral showing Talha Anjum apparently waving the Indian flag. The clip sparked criticism on social media.
Talha Anjum came to defend what he did and repeat to do the same if the Indian flag controversy persisted. But now he has clarified his stance and changed his remarks on the controversy.
Speaking to a private TV channel, he said he did not wave the Indian flag throughout the concert. “If anyone was hurt by my actions, I sincerely apologize,” he said.
Talha Anjum explained that around 3,000 people attended the concert, including dozens of Indian fans. He treats all fans equally and wanted to honor them.
During the performance, fans threw T-shirts and gifts on stage. One fan handed him the Indian flag. He accepted it to respect the fan and returned it after a few moments.
He denied any influence of substances during the incident. “I was fully conscious. I placed the flag on my shoulder briefly, then folded it and put it back,” Talha Anjum said.
Only a short clip of this moment went viral, leading to the backlash. Talha Anjum emphasised he did not wave the Indian flag continuously.
He expressed regret over disappointing Pakistani fans and once again apologised. “I did not mean disrespect. The flag was returned immediately,” he added.
