Pakistani actor Yasir Hussain reacted to the current media buzz about the controversies of actress Humaira Asghar. He faulted the press by saying it paid less attention to systemic issues like late payments and the disrespect towards senior actors.
In a recent tweet posted on social media, Hussain demanded remuneration and due respect to veteran actors, especially Mohammad Ahmed who has served television in the field for decades. Hussain emphasized the need to appreciate artists when they are still alive rather than to observe condolences when they are gone.

“Let’s raise our voices today for their rightful and timely payments and dignity, rather than wait for regrets tomorrow,” Hussain said.
This is not the first time that Mohammad Ahmed has spoken about it with him, previously indicating that many actors in Pakistan experience systematic payment delays and maltreatment by production houses. He explained that artists are always forced into pursuing production teams to claim their owed monies even after complete professional attainment of their projects.
The statements of Hussain have contributed to the already-existing debate as to the accountability in the media and entertainment industries of Pakistan, and they should take concrete actions to provide better working conditions to the elderly and experienced actors.
