Balochistan Honor Killing: Victim’s Mother Sent on 2-Day Police Remand After Viral Confession Video

In the ongoing Balochistan honor killing case, the mother of Bano Bibi, one of the two murder victims, was presented before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC-I). The court approved the police’s request for a two-day physical remand and handed her over to police custody.

The case emerged when a video of the murder of a man and a woman in the Degari district close to Quetta goes viral on social media. The video received an urgent reaction from the Balochistan government and the Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court. First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at the police station at Hanna Urak.

Following the FIR, police launched arrests of those named in the case. Among the suspects is Sardar Sher Baz Satakzai, who is currently in police custody on remand.

The case took a new turn when a video of Bano Bibi’s mother appeared online, in which she spoke about the motive behind the killings. She was subsequently summoned and presented before the court, which granted her two-day remand to the police.

Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has stated in a press conference that full legal action will be taken in the Balochistan honor killing case. He assured that no one will be given any relief and no external pressure will be accepted.
