ChatGPT 5 Faces Backlash as Users Report Poor Performance

OpenAI recently launched its newest AI model, GPT-5. The company held a special one-hour livestream where CEO Sam Altman and his team showed off the model’s new abilities. They said GPT-5 can think better, solve harder problems, and give more personalized answers. OpenAI called it a major upgrade from GPT-4.

GPT-5 Promised Big Improvements in AI Thinking

During the launch, OpenAI said GPT-5 was like a “PhD-level” brain. It was built to be smarter than before. The team showed how the model could follow multi-step instructions and respond in a more human-like way.

Early Feedback: Users Complain About Speed and Quality

However, users appeared not to be content after this GPT 5 version was released. The post entitled “GPT-5 is horrible” became popular on Reddit. It was reported that the model was sluggish, provided less useful responses, and did not work as an upgrade. Other users also claimed that GPT-5 is more difficult to utilize than GPT-4.

A big concern is the limit on GPT-5’s new “Thinking” mode. Even paying users of ChatGPT Plus can only use it 200 times per week. Plus, OpenAI has removed older models like GPT-4 for many users, so they can only use GPT-5 now. This upset people who liked having more choices.

GPT-5 Launch Fell Short of High Expectations

Before the release, OpenAI built up excitement with a Star Wars-style teaser. They hinted that GPT-5 would be a big change. While the model does well in lab tests, many users say the real-world results are not that great.  They believe it was a quite faint effort to improve the chatbot than it was first released in 2022.

Other users continue to be hopeful that GPT-5 will improve in the future. However, currently, OpenAI remains a controversial topic among its audience, with massive requests to restore an older and more trustworthy generation of models.
