The metro bus Islamabad closed today between Saddar Station in Rawalpindi and Faizabad due to Chehlum processions on Friday, 15 August 2025. According to the Metro Bus authority, the suspension has been implemented on the instructions of the Rawalpindi district administration to ensure security arrangements during the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala.
The metro bus Rawalpindi section from Saddar to Faizabad is the only part affected, while the Metro Bus Islamabad route from IJP to Pak Secretariat is operating as usual. Passengers travelling in the Rawalpindi section have been advised to use alternative transport today.
Authorities have deployed security personnel and managed routes to handle Chehlum 2025 processions in the twin cities. This is Rawalpindi-specific and Metro Bus is only affected in Islamabad.
Chehlum 2025 in Pakistan marks the 40th day after the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in the Battle of Karbala. Large processions are taking place nationwide, causing traffic disruptions in major cities.
