The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a warning of possible cloudburst in Punjab during the next 24 hours. According to the PDMA spokesperson, upper Punjab may witness heavy rainfall and cloudburst incidents as the seventh spell of the monsoon rains in Pakistan intensifies.
Punjab Rain Alert Issued
PDMA Punjab has stated that the ongoing monsoon system has strengthened, raising the risk of torrential rains in Punjab. The authority has directed district administrations and rescue teams to remain on high alert to handle any emergency situation caused by the expected cloudburst in Punjab.
Flash Flood in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
While Punjab braces for the new spell, rain and flash flood in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have already claimed 321 lives. In Buner, a strong flood wave destroyed houses and left piles of debris across the area. Large boulders carried by the floods still remain in different localities.
In the affected districts, PDMA, Pakistan Army, district administration, rescue services, and local volunteers are actively engaged in relief operations. Mass funeral prayers have been offered for the victims who lost their lives in the floods.
The warning of a cloudburst in Punjab highlights the rising risks linked with the 2025 monsoon spell in Pakistan. The citizens are encouraged to remain updated with the official reports and not to travel into the areas that are likely to get flooded during heavy rain.
