A bomb blast struck the Jaffar Express near Jacobabad on July 28, 2025, between Sultan Kot and Shikarpur, causing three coaches to derail at around 10:20 AM. The train was traveling from Peshawar to Quetta when the explosion occurred on the railway track.
So far no casualties have been reported. One individual was injured and offered on-site medical service. All the passengers were evacuated safely with rescue teams showing up there immediately.
The on-site services along the section have been temporarily halted. The police approximate that the process of repairing the tracks can extend to 10 hours.
The nature of the blast is under investigation, and security forces and the Bomb Disposal Squad already examined it. Forensic squads are gathering evidence on the field.
Pakistan Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah condemned the incident, terming it as an assault on the state. He instructed authorities to offer relief to passengers and introduce a thorough investigation.
