Karachi Do Darya Suicide Case: All Three Bodies Recovered, Family Rejects Suicide Claim

The bodies of a father and his two children have been recovered from the sea at Karachi’s Do Darya area, two days after the initial incident was reported. The man has been identified as Aurangzeb Alam, a schoolteacher and resident of Gabol Goth, Orangi Town.

According to rescue officials and eyewitnesses, the 40-year-old man jumped into the sea with his children, Ahmad and Ayat, aged between six and seven. The children’s bodies were recovered earlier, while the search for the father’s body was completed today.

Family members confirmed that the incident occurred following a child custody dispute. Aurangzeb Alam had recently approached the court to gain custody of his children. However, a court decision a day before the incident had granted custody to the children’s mother.

His brother, Sagheer Alam, said that the deceased was attempting to resolve issues with his wife and had stated during their last meeting in court that he was “going to talk to her”. The family has denied that it was a suicide and has demanded a neutral investigation.

Aurangzeb was employed as a private school teacher and was also known as Shar Alam in the local community. The family stated he was emotionally attached to his children and had never shown any behavior indicating suicidal intent.

The incident has raised concerns over rising domestic disputes, Karachi suicide cases, and the psychological impact of child custody court rulings in Pakistan. Authorities have not yet confirmed the final cause of death and have stated that investigations are underway.
