Lyari Building Collapse Update: DG SBCA Suspended by Sindh Government

The Sindh government has removed Director General of Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), Muhammad Ishaq Khoso, following the Lyari building collapse incident.

A departmental inquiry has been initiated against the Grade-20 officer. The government has also announced a formal investigation to determine his involvement in any building collapse incidents.

According to official sources, if Muhammad Ishaq Khoso is found responsible for negligence or involvement in any past or recent incidents of illegal construction or building collapse in Karachi, strict action will be taken under the law.

In his place, Shahmir Khan Bhutto has been appointed as the new Director General of SBCA.

This action comes amid growing public concerns over unsafe buildings in Karachi, especially after multiple incidents in Lyari and surrounding areas. The move is part of the government’s broader crackdown on illegal constructions and risky structures across Sindh.
