Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti declared that terrorism, whether carried out under the banner of nationalism or religion, is unacceptable. Speaking at the 16th National Workshop Balochistan, he said that the province’s political history must understand to address its ongoing issues effectively.
He stated that misleading perceptions about Balochistan exist in other parts of Pakistan, and that the government is prioritizing engagement with youth. He clarified that no talks held outside the Constitution with individuals who attack the state or harm civilians.
Bugti emphasized that the insurgency driven by separatist ideologies based on Baloch identity, not unemployment or lack of development. He termed the fight against terrorism a national cause and criticized the portrayal of a limited Kalat operation as a province-wide campaign.
The Chief Minister shared that a Provincial Action Plan implemented to improve law and order in Balochistan. He said terrorists aim to spread fear but cannot hold ground for long. Addressing the missing persons issue, Bugti mentioned that legislation passed and that security forces face challenges in identifying threats in sensitive regions.
In governance reforms, he stated that 99.99% of hiring in the education and health sectors done on merit and scholarships offered locally and abroad. Anti-corruption efforts strengthened through active CMIT and relevant agencies.
Referring to a recent Balochistan honor killing case involving the murder of a man and a woman, Bugti said the government filed an FIR independently after no family members stepped forward. He assured that justice will be served and the state stands with the victims.
