Pakistan and China Sign MoU to Boost Maritime Trade and Ship Management

Pakistan and China entered a new era of co-operation in maritime by signing several Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) between the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) and another Chinese company, Shandong Xinxiu Company.

The agreement encompasses the purchase and sale of ships, ship leasing, management of ship, marketing of ship and operational of the crew. Shandong Xinxiu will invest capital and vessels under the agreement to maximize PNSC operations and the joint growth.

Addressing the signing ceremony, federal minister of Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry stated that the agreement will open up possibilities towards regional trade, connectivity, and investment. Observing that the partnership will enhance the contribution that Pakistan has in the shipping industry and enrich its maritime operational frameworks using joint resources.

It is anticipated that the MoU would have favourable effect in attracting investments in the maritime sector that would be friendly in the long-term perspective in enhancing long-term development in both ship management and port logistics.
