Pakistan celebrated its 78th Independence Day of Pakistan with nationwide events, a military parade at Shakarparian Parade Ground, and the official announcement of the Pakistan Army Rocket Force.
On August 13, the new Pakistan Army Rocket Force Command presented by the Prime Minister saying that it will command missile deployment / force and conventional warfare resources. The decision, declared shortly before the 14th August Independence Day, comes after recent tensions on the border and meant to reinforce the strategic defence of Pakistan.
At the Shakarparian Parade Ground, the Armed Forces held a public defence exhibition showcasing tanks, rocket launchers, radars, aircraft, artillery, and armoured vehicles. There was also a joint parade between Turkey and Azerbaijan in the venue, which was the first in the history of the location. A Pakistan Air Force flypast, parachutes and military band performances also included at the event.
A 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salutes in provincial capitals began the official celebrations for Pakistan Independence Day 2025. Special prayers held in mosques for the country’s unity and progress. Flags raised across the country with the grand event being headed by the Prime Minister at the Pakistan Monument.
Markets, streets, and public buildings decorated with green and white flags, lights, and buntings. Cultural stalls and Independence Day items were on sale across the country, as Pakistani citizens marked the occasion with patriotic displays.
In Pakistan, the Independence Day is the day that remembers the formation of the country on 14 August 1947, when the British India split up to make Pakistan as a separate Muslim land. Although the legal date of Indian Independence Act is 15 August, 14 August 1947 observed in Pakistan because of symbolic and religious sentiments since it was during the 27th night of Ramadan of 1947.
Every year, Pakistani citizens celebrate the 14th August Independence Day to reaffirm their commitment to national sovereignty and unity. The celebrations combine cultural traditions, military displays, and historical remembrance of the sacrifices made for independence.
