Hundreds of tourists were stranded in the road blocked between Naran and Lake Saif-ul-Malook because of a cloudburst. A collaboration between the Kaghan Development Authority, the Tourism Police, and the Rescue 1122 saved more than 500 tourists based on the instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur.
Secretary Tourism Dr. Abdul Samad confirmed that heavy machinery was used to clear the debris in order to reopen the road. 117+ tourist jeeps were able to move out on the road and those who had suffered due to the blockage moved safely.
The Tourism Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa confirmed that it is taking all necessary steps to ensure tourist safety in the region. It also advises visitors to contact the Tourism Helpline 1422 for emergency support while visiting northern areas, especially during the monsoon season.
The incident raised concerns among local authorities about weather-related disruptions in popular tourist spots like Saif-ul-Malook Lake, Kaghan Valley, and Naran. Travelers are encouraged to stay updated on road conditions before planning trips to tourist destinations in KPK.
