Twist in K-Electric Harassment Case: Moonis Alvi Not Removed as K-Electric CEO – For Now

The Sindh High Court has suspended the decision of the provincial ombudsmen to remove K-Electric CEO Moonis Alvi from his post. The suspension came after the court heard a petition filed by Alvi challenging the harassment ruling against him.

Moonis Alvi approached the Sindh High Court following the ombudsperson’s order in a workplace harassment case filed by K-Electric’s former Chief Marketing Officer, Mehreen Zahra. Alvi appeared with his lawyer, Barrister Abid Zuberi, during the hearing.

The court questioned the jurisdiction of the provincial ombudsperson. Zuberi argued that K-Electric is an interprovincial entity providing electricity to areas including Lasbela, Hub, and Windar, and therefore falls under the Federal Ombudsperson’s jurisdiction. He claimed the provincial ombudsperson’s decision was legally invalid.

After the hearing, the court suspended the order to remove Moonis Alvi and issued notices to both the ombudsperson and the complainant for responses. Alvi deposited Rs 2.5 million fine with the Nazir of the Sindh High Court.

The harassment complaint was filed by former CMO Mehreen Zahra, and the provincial ombudsperson had issued a suspension order on July 31, 2025.
