The sacred rituals of Hajj 2025 have officially begun today, Wednesday, 8th Dhul-Hijjah, with Pakistani pilgrims arriving in Mina to begin the multi-day religious journey. This year, 88,301 Pakistani pilgrims under the government scheme and 27,012 under private schemes are performing Hajj.
Pilgrims traveled from Makkah to Mina late Tuesday night, departing from residential areas including Azizia, Naseem, and Batha Quraish, all while in the state of Ihram. Before departure, pilgrims tied their Ihram garments at their accommodations and performed two Nafl (voluntary) prayers to formally begin the Hajj rituals.
Pakistani Pilgrims to Stay in Mina Today
On the 8th of Dhul-Hijjah, also known as Yaum al-Tarwiyah, pilgrims will spend the day in Mina, offering Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha prayers. This stay is part of the preparation for the most important day of Hajj — the Day of Arafat.
Pilgrims to Proceed to Arafat on 9th Dhul-Hijjah
Tomorrow, 9th Dhul-Hijjah, pilgrims will depart for the plains of Arafat to perform Wuquf-e-Arafat, the essential pillar of Hajj. Upon reaching Arafat, pilgrims will listen to the Hajj Sermon (Khutbah) and then offer the Zuhr and Asr prayers combined.They will remain in Arafat until sunset, after which they will head to Muzdalifah without offering the Maghrib prayer in Arafat. In Muzdalifah, pilgrims will perform the Maghrib and Isha prayers, rest under the open sky, and collect pebbles for the next day’s ritual of Ramy al-Jamarat (stoning of the devil).
