In a groundbreaking announcement, Caretaker Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Dr Aneeq Ahmed, revealed a substantial reduction of Rs0.1 million in government Haj expenses. The minister emphasized that this cost-cutting measure would not compromise the quality of facilities provided to pilgrims.

Innovative Mobile Application Introduced
Addressing the evolving needs of pilgrims, Dr Ahmed announced the launch of a dedicated mobile application designed to enhance the overall Haj experience. The app, available initially in English and Urdu, will later incorporate various regional languages. It aims to provide navigation assistance and keep pilgrims in constant contact with relevant officials.
Inclusion in Saudi Arabia’s Road to Makkah Project
In a strategic move, Islamabad and Karachi have been incorporated into Saudi Arabia’s Road to Makkah project. This integration allows Karachi airport to facilitate the immigration process for pilgrims, streamlining their journey and minimizing hassles.
Short Hajj Package Introduced
To make Haj more financially accessible, the government has introduced a 20-day short Haj package. This initiative aims to cater to a broader segment of the population, ensuring that the sacred journey is within reach for more citizens.
Accommodations in Old Mina
Recognizing the challenges posed by the distance to New Mina, efforts are underway to accommodate Pakistani pilgrims in tents at Old Mina. This strategic move seeks to enhance the overall experience and convenience for the pilgrims.
Transparent Allocation of Haj Seats
Dr Ahmed highlighted that Pakistan has secured 179,000 Haj seats, with half reserved for private Haj operators. The Ministry of Religious Affairs will closely oversee these operators to ensure the well-being of pilgrims, holding the ministry accountable for any issues faced by those opting for private operators.
Ongoing Renovation at Haji Camp Karachi
Underscoring the commitment to improving pilgrimage facilities, Dr Ahmed mentioned the ongoing renovation work at the Haji Camp Karachi building. This initiative reflects the government’s dedication to providing a comfortable and upgraded environment for pilgrims.
Expense Details and Special Reduction
Clarifying expense details, Dr Ahmed noted that the announced package excludes qurbani (sacrifice) expenses during the Haj. Additionally, intending pilgrims opting for a shorter stay in Medina will receive a further reduction of Rs 35,000 in Haj expenses.
These comprehensive changes underscore the government’s commitment to enhancing the Haj experience, making it more inclusive and accessible for all Pakistani citizens.
