As the holy month of Ramadan unfolds, Muslims worldwide, particularly in Saudi Arabia, are preparing for the last Ashra’s spiritual practice, known as Itikaf. This revered Islamic tradition involves individuals isolating themselves in a mosque for worship and devotion.
The Grand Mosque, Islam’s most sacred site located in Mecca, holds significant importance for Itikaf. Every Muslim aspires to observe Itikaf here, spending the entire Ashra in worship until the month’s end. With their luggage in tow, devotees head to the Grand Mosque for this spiritual retreat.
Itikaf in Makkah Registration 2024
In a recent announcement, Saudi authorities stated that the registration for Itikaf at the Grand Mosque is slated to commence next week. The General Authority for Care of the Two Holy Mosques revealed that the registration process would begin on the 7th of Ramadan and continue until all available spots are occupied.
Devotees willing to adhere to the Grand Mosque’s rules and regulations are eligible to observe Itikaf. The authorities have stipulated that applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Prospective participants can register via the Presidency’s dedicated portal for the two holy mosques. The registration window will remain open for several days.
Ramadan witnesses a surge in pilgrimage at the Grand Mosque, with countless worshippers flocking to the Kingdom to reap maximum blessings. To ensure a seamless and comfortable experience for worshippers during this busy period, Saudi authorities have implemented several measures.
