In 2025, Pakistan private Hajj news has taken center stage as the private Hajj scheme faces a drastic quota reduction, affecting thousands of pilgrims. The Ministry of Religious Affairs Hajj 2025 announced that Saudi Arabia slashed Pakistan’s private Hajj quota from 89,605 to just 23,620 pilgrims due to delays in agreements and payments. This has left over 67,000 intending pilgrims unable to perform Hajj, sparking widespread concern.
Why Was the Private Hajj Quota Reduced?
The Ministry of Hajj Pakistan highlighted that private operators failed to meet Saudi Arabia’s strict deadlines for securing accommodations in Mina by February 14, 2025. Late approval of the Hajj Policy 2025 and delayed payments further compounded the issue. Despite efforts to secure 67,000 bookings and transfer 7 million Saudi Riyals, only 12,500 applications were processed before the Saudi portal closed. However, Saudi Arabia granted an additional 10,000 slots following Pakistan’s request, offering partial relief.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered an urgent inquiry to address the crisis. The Ministry of Religious Affairs Hajj 2025 issued directives for private operators to update contracts and complete visa processing by April 18, 2025. Pilgrims can verify their status via the Pak Hajj 2025 mobile app or the Ministry’s website. The ministry also deployed Moavineen-e-Hujjaj for Hajj-2025 to assist pilgrims during the Hajj operation, starting April 29, 2025, with 280 PIA flights transporting over 56,000 pilgrims.
Hajj 2025: Key Dates and Costs
Hajj 2025 is set for June 4–9, 2025, with flights commencing from Karachi on April 29. The government scheme costs between PKR 1,075,000 and PKR 1,175,000, while private scheme fees are capped at PKR 3 million. Saudi Arabia’s temporary visa restrictions, excluding Hajj-specific visas, ensure crowd control.
