Saudi Arabia has unveiled a new mobile application aimed at assisting pilgrims visiting the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah during the holy month of Ramadan. The app, developed by the General Authority for Care of the Prophet’s Mosque and known as the ‘status of prayer places,’ provides real-time updates on the capacity status of different prayer areas within the mosque. This innovative tool helps worshippers plan their visits, especially during peak times, to avoid congestion.
The app is user-friendly, available in Arabic, English, and Urdu, and utilizes color codes to indicate the capacity status of prayer places. Green signifies ‘available,’ yellow for ‘crowded,’ pink indicates ‘full,’ and grey denotes ‘unavailable.’ Pilgrims, who often flock to Madinah after performing Umrah, can now access vital information to facilitate their prayers at the revered mosque.
Additionally, Saudi authorities have made extensive preparations to accommodate the influx of worshippers during Ramadan. Plans include distributing over 8.5 million iftar meals and providing approximately 2.5 million bottles of Zamzam water at the Prophet’s Mosque. These efforts ensure a smooth and fulfilling Ramadan experience for Muslims visiting the sacred site.
Ramadan commenced in Saudi Arabia and Gulf countries on March 11, coinciding with Muslims in Pakistan who sighted the Ramadan moon and began fasting on March 12.
