Rabi’ al-Awwal Moon Not Sighted: When will be 12th Rabi’ al-Awwal in Pakistan?

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has officially announced that the moon for Rabi’ al-Awwal 1446 AH was not sighted across Pakistan. Consequently, the 1st of Rabi’ al-Awwal will fall on September 6, 2024, while 12th Rabi’ al-Awwal — the day of Eid Milad-un-Nabi — will be observed on September 17, 2024.

The announcement was made by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, after a meeting held in Islamabad. The committee reviewed testimonies from across the country, and based on the absence of moon sightings, the dates were confirmed.

Importance of 12th Rabi’ al-Awwal 2024

This year’s 12th Rabi’ al-Awwal, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), falls on September 17, 2024. The day holds great significance for Muslims across the world and is celebrated with reverence and joy.

During the announcement, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad highlighted that Rabi’ al-Awwal coincides with two significant national events:

  • September 6, the first day of Rabi’ al-Awwal, will also be the Golden Jubilee of the 1974 Day of Finality of Prophethood.
  • September 6 is also celebrated as Pakistan’s Defence Day, honoring the sacrifices of the country’s armed forces.

National Significance of Rabi’ al-Awwal

During the press conference, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad emphasized the importance of spreading Pakistan’s message of peace to every household. He also paid tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan’s armed forces, acknowledging their sacrifice in safeguarding the nation.

Committee Meeting Details

The meeting, held under the chairmanship of Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, was attended by representatives from various national organizations, including:

  • SUPARCO
  • Meteorological Department
  • Ministry of Science and Technology

Additionally, zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meetings took place at designated locations across the country.
