In a recent announcement, the Shariah Board of Pakistan has established the minimum Fitrana and Fidya amounts for Ramadan 2024. The unified value for Sadaqah-e-Fitr and Fidya has been set at Rs300 per person.
According to Dr. Mufti Muhammad Zafar Iqbal Jalali, the chairman of the Shariah Board, the minimum Fitrana amount of Rs300 per person is equivalent to 2 kilograms of wheat flour. Similarly, Fidya for missing a fast due to poor health or other reasons has also been set at Rs300 per person.
It’s worth noting that affluent individuals are encouraged to pay Fitrana based on their capacity, rather than adhering strictly to the minimum amount.
Furthermore, the Shariah Board has outlined specific values for different food items used in Fitrana, such as Rs600 for oats, Rs2,400 for dates, and Rs4,400 for raisins. For the entire month of Ramadan, Fidya rates are set at Rs9,000 for wheat flour, Rs18,000 for oats, Rs72,000 for dates, and Rs132,000 for raisins.
Lastly, the Fitrana or Sadaqah-e-Fitr is obligatory for every Muslim and must be paid before Eid, marking the conclusion of Ramadan.
