When Will the Rabi ul Awwal 2024 Moon Be Sighted in Pakistan?

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee set to meet on Wednesday, September 4, to sight the moon of Rabiul Awwal, marking the beginning of the month when Muslims celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH). This significant event is observed on the 12th of Rabiul Awwal, commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The meeting will be presided over by Chairman Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony in Islamabad. Coordination for the event will be managed by Director General Syed Mushahid Hussain Khalid. Technical support will be provided by Zainul Abideen from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Chief Meteorologist Dr. Sardar Sarfaraz from the Pakistan Meteorological Department, and Ghulam Murtaza from SUPARCO, who will offer their expertise via telephone during the session.

In addition to the central committee, zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committees will also convene in major cities, including Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, and Peshawar, to assist in the moon sighting. Following the meeting, Maulana Azad is expected to announce the official decision regarding the sighting of the Rabiul Awwal moon.
